Olivia Koehler is an Electrical Engineering student who has worked for Fort Wayne Metals since May 2015. She has been involved with both major and minor projects which she has been honored to be a part of. She has worked with many machines at the wire manufacturing facility, creating add-on devices to aid in better quality of material as well as operating functions. Some of these projects were: Designing add-ons to machines to aid in wire drawing (e.g. an additional custom powder casing to coat the wire), interior designs of many machines, designing bar grinding blades, magnetic let off for new machines, and many others. She has also worked in the sales side of the business, adding to her understanding of the beginning to end process of what it takes to make a company run. She was able to play large role in the re-launch product of Fort Wayne Metals SLT Wire. She was put in charge of organizing and facilitating meetings, as well as delegating projects. She was given tasks such as; collecting data on the new and improved wire, and creating tables in Excel which listed every type of wire, in every size and condition and what price they sell now compared to what it should be sold for.

In the Spring of 2017 Olivia Koehler will have earned her Associate of Science from Ivy Tech community college. She is on the dean’s list, as well as being honored by receiving scholarships from NASA, The National Science Foundation, Zollner Foundation, and Indiana Governor Mike Pence. In the Fall of 2017 Olivia plans to attend IPFW and complete her bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering.
